There is a saying: "If you want to do something, do it yourself." For example, a family of three in Pune, Maharashtra, started filling potholes on their city's roads on Independence Day this year.
Ashish Jagtap, 44, an IT worker, along with his wife Fahmin and their seven-year-old son Ayanash, celebrated Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav on the 77th Independence Day by filling potholes on the roads with any material.
The family has started repairing potholes on the 3-km stretch of road from NIBM to Undri, reports Pune Times Mirror.
Speaking to Pune Times Mirror, Jagtap said he thought of taking up the venture when his son asked him about the poor condition of the city's roads.
He added that he bought the necessary bricks, cement, and sand with his own money. The family has repaired 9-10 potholes in the area and plans to continue doing so every Sunday. According to Jagtap, they have received positive and encouraging feedback from the viewers.
