There, he met the victims of the Kishtwar cloudburst and asked the attending doctors about their condition. Singh was supposed to go to the village of Chositi in Kishtwar, where the devastating cloudburst occurred on August 14, but the weather prevented him from doing so. Rajnath Singh wrote, "Met those who were injured due to the cloudburst and flash floods" in a post on X. I'm praying that everyone who was hurt gets better quickly. The Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Manoj Sinha, and Union MoS Dr Jitendra Singh accompanied me during the visit.”

He added, “Due to inclement weather, I could not go to the cloudburst affected areas of Kishtwar today. Utilized the facility for video conferencing to examine the situation at Chositi from Jammu. It is encouraging to note the excellent work performed by the state administration, Army, NDRF, SDRF, and J&K Police during the crisis.

The Central Government, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is doing everything in its power to assist those who have been harmed by this tragic incident in getting back on their feet. According to Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh, the Defense Minister personally met each patient at GMC Jammu, inquired about their health, and talked with the doctors about their treatment plans. Dr. Singh stated, "He ensured that all necessary assistance is extended to the victims." Following the hospital visit, the Defence Minister held a review meeting with officials in Jammu to assess the situation in Kishtwar and ongoing relief efforts in the affected villages.

Sunil Sharma, MLA from Padder and Leader of Opposition in the J&K Assembly, claimed that he briefed the Defense Minister and senior administrative officers about the ongoing relief and rehabilitation operations via video conference. Additionally, Sharma made a number of long-pending local demands. He stated that the Defense Minister, after careful consideration, approved the Bailey Bridge's construction, directed improvements to mobile connectivity, approved the Army Goodwill School, and ordered the establishment of a petrol pump at Padder to satisfy long-standing community demands.

On August 14, the cloudburst caused flash floods in Chisoti, the last motorable village on the way to the Machail Mata temple. The floods killed 65 people, mostly pilgrims, and injured more than 100. After the tragedy, 32 people whose families still reported them missing are the focus of a massive search effort.
