UDA terms Ban Toll Plaza as Loot plundering in common man pocket

Jammu | 8-Aug-2020

Chief Spokesperson, United Democratic Alliance (UDA), Rajiv Mahajan has alleged that very high rates are being charged from the road users at Ban Toll Plaza by the people at the helm of affairs while the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) has failed to control plunder at the Toll Plazas in the region.
He said NHAI in its hoardings installed at Ban Toll plaza notified the of up and down rate of vehicle within 24 hours as Rs 205 but the question arises whether Rs 280 for LMV was justified at Ban Toll Plaza.
He said that the ban toll plaza is not only a route of Pilgrims but also a life line to the economy of the State, especially Jammu region.
It is completely unjustified and unfair that people have to pay Rs 280 for travelling on the same road within 24 hours.
Criticising the work policy of NHAI, Rajiv said that NHAI fails completely in serving the general public, he termed toll plaza as Loot Plundering the pocket of the common man.
The national highway authority of India has violated its own norms of the establishment of the toll plazas after sixty kilometers but both the toll plazas in Jammu have been established within the short distance, thus throwing its own norms to winds. It is unfortunate and high-handedness of the concerned authorities that both the toll plazas in question have been established against the wishes and interests of the people.
In fact the toll plaza is looting the gullible masses of not only UT of Jammu and Kashmir but the transporters of other states of India as well, he said adding that the only consideration is the minting of the money at the cost of the people.
The national highway authority of India in collaboration with the private contractors is looting the public and the government is looking as a mute spectator, he said.
To ply a four wheeler on the National Highway - 44 is a painful exercise as the people have to part with their hard earned money in their own UT and this is very disturbing and unfortunate he said.
The to and fro charges in lumpsum has been cancelled and thus there is open loot of the people's pockets and government should come to the rescue of the aggrieved people and deliver justice to them.
He asked the government to take action against the contractors of the Ban Toll Plaza as where Rs 75 per vehicle are gone.
