TIMES NOW

With the coronavirus, outbreak came a different set of challenges for each one of us. With cancelled plans, lost jobs, or imbalance in life, a lot of us have been struggling to adapt to the new normal in a lot of ways. A lot of people were due to move to a different apartment or were to move to a different city, but due to the outbreak and the subsequent lockdowns, their plans were delayed. Even as the lockdown is now lifted with inter-district and inter-state movement allowed, people who had to move are still apprehensive about the safety during the movement, especially when you have your paraphernalia with you. However, while some people may be able to delay their moving a little more, others may need to do so urgently. If you are worried about your own safety, and the safety of your loved ones during such a move, here are some tips and tricks that may help to make the move easier and safer.

1. Stock up on disinfectants, wipes, and sanitizers One cannot compromise on hygiene at this point. Make sure you stock up on hand sanitizers, disinfectants, wipes, masks, etc as you plan the move. Make a separate bag and keep it handy.

2. Set reminders to wash/sanitize your hands When we have so much going on, it is only natural to forget to wash our hands or use an alcohol-based hand rub to clean them. Set reminders on your phone for every hour or so, and make sure you wash or sanitize your hands. Remind everyone around you as well. Make sure to keep a hand cream handy in case your hands start to get dry due to overuse of sanitizers.

3. Keep drinking water While taking precautions to not contract the virus, make sure you do not get sick otherwise as well. Keep a water bottle handy and keep drinking water every chance you get. Dehydration can lead to giddiness, unconsciousness and weakness, and you may really not get any work done if you are unwell.

4. Spray disinfectant on your boxes Spray disinfectant on all your boxes before you load them on the pickup truck, after, and after you finally take them off at your destination. This will help reduce the risk of contraction through surfaces.

5. Make sure everyone wears a mask From your family members to the driver to your own self, make sure everyone wears a face mask that is clean and covers their nose and mouth. Carry extra ones with you just in case someone needs them. Masks have proven to really help reduce the risk of contraction of the coronavirus by curbing sneeze, cough droplets, or even droplets while speaking and breathing.
