According to the police, “0n 23.04.2020 PP Chatha received an information that one Rekha Devi W/O Chander Kant Tiwari, R/O Raipur Satwari, age 31 years, died at her house Raipur Satwari. Since the death has occurred in suspicious circumstances as such an inquest proceeding U/S 174 CrPC, was initiated vide DDR No. 13 dated 23.04.2020 at PP Chatha. In order to ascertain the veracity of truth behind the death a team led by Insp. Gurmeet singh SHO P/S Satwari and SI Rakesh Roshan IC PP Chatha rushed to the spot under the supervision of SDPO City South Jammu and inspected the spot minutely. During investigation it surfaced that the husband of the deceased had a past history of torturing his wife and restricting her from visiting her paternal house. On 22.04.2020 mother of deceased namely Sushma Devi telephonically invited the deceased(Rekha) in order to attend Satsang which was scheduled to be held on 24.04.2020 at her paternal home. On 23.04.2020 morning deceased Rekha Devi insisted her husband Chanderkant to attend the function. On this a heated argument started between husband and wife which was joined by family members of Chanderkant including his mother- Sunehla Devi W/o Late Dudeshvar Tiwari and sister-Sunita Tiwari W/o Rishi Kumar Sharma R/o Village Batha, Raipur satwari. The family members caught hold of Rekha and Chanderkant hit his wife on her head with a heavy iron rod with the intention to end her life. In order to hush up their criminal act Chanderkant and his family members silently hid the dead body behind a parked Car at their residence till evening with the intention to disposed off the dead body during night hours. They further informed the parents of the deceased that Rekha Devi had left home without informing them. But their plan failed as one of the neighbours informed police and police started investigating the matter.
The post mortem report overruled the theory of in-laws that Rekha fell from stairs and indicated injury marks with blunt object on the head of the deceased. This was further corroborated by the statement of the eye witness in front of whom the entire episode occurred.
The statement of the witnesses and preliminary post-mortem report corroborated with the theory of murder as such the said inquest proceeding was converted and Case FIR No. 116/20 U/S 302 IPC has been registered against the husband of the deceased and others.
