The Jammu Province Peoples’ Forum has urged the J&K administration to immediately revoke SRO 202 to end discrimination and bring parity among government employees of Jammu and Kashmir without any further delay.
Addressing a press conference in Jammu on Thursday, working president of the JPPF M S Katoch said, “The SRO 202 has no relevance under the newly formed UT of J&K.”
As per the SRO 202, the appointee initially has to serve probation period for a period of five years and after completion of five years his service will be declared as permanent subject to passing of such tests, or successfully undergoing such training, as provided under the Jammu and Kashmir Civil Services (Classification, Control and Appeal) Rules, 1956 or as prescribed under the relevant recruitment rules governing the post of service to which he has been appointed.
“The constitution which allowed the Govt to issue such ordinances is not in existence today. Hence the revocation of SRO 202 is the prime need of the hour”, Katoch said adding that how the Govt can play with the career of thousands of youth by paying them less salaries and appointing them on temporary basis for a long period of 5 years and thereafter again they have to qualify the test in order to secure their position on permanent basis.
The JPPF members present on the occasion were Avinash Bhatia, Resham Singh and Rajeev Mahajan.
