At least two people were killed in a mudslide triggered by heavy rains on the outskirts of Xi'an in western China, the official news agency said on Saturday, while some trains in the northeast were canceled as a strong storm swept through the region.
Rescuers are searching for 16 people missing in Luanzhen village after Friday night's mudslide, Xinhua news agency reported. According to it, roads, bridges, and power plants were damaged.

Parts of China suffer heavy rains and floods every summer, but this year has been exceptionally severe in some areas, while other regions struggle with crop-damaging drought.
Elsewhere, some train services were suspended in Shenyang, China's largest city in northeast China, and in the surrounding province of Liaoning since Saturday night due to heavy rain caused by Khanun's remains, state television said. Khanun hit parts of Japan as a typhoon before weakening over the Korean Peninsula en route to China.
About 23,000 people were evacuated from the city of Shulan in northeastern Jilin province due to heavy rain, according to Xinhua. No deaths or injuries were immediately reported.
According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations, a total of 142 people died due to floods, landslides, and mountain ranges in July.
