Jammu, June 4, 2025: At the Jammu & Kashmir Resident Commission in New Delhi, Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary presided over a thorough assessment meeting today about the operations of the Public Works Department (PWD). The Chief Pay & Accounts Officer, Executive Engineer (PWD), Manager 5-PRR, Manager CPGH, Additional Resident Commissioner, and other relevant personnel attended the meeting. The Deputy Chief Minister evaluated the PWD's current development projects that are under the Resident Commission's purview. The Dy CM was briefed by the relevant officials on the advancements made in terms of both financial performance and physical execution.

The Dy CM was informed that JK House, Chanakyapuri's renovation project, which included the construction of a new reception area and sitting lounge as well as an upgrade of the room furnishings, was finished. Additionally, he was told that the top floor of C Block would soon be transformed into VIP quarters for senior officials, at an estimated cost of Rs. 127 lakh. Additionally, he was told that the J&K guest home in Amritsar had been renovated during the previous fiscal year. This included the installation of a new gate, boundary wall, signage board, ramp, and exterior and interior painting. Additionally, the current fiscal year will see the start of the guest house rehabilitation project, which will involve updating the four suites, including the kitchen, staff quarters, and premises/lawns.
Additionally, he was told that the HCM and LG residences at 5-PR Road had been upgraded with new paint, polish, furniture, and landscaping, as well as new parking spaces and other related projects. Similarly, the boundary wall has been finished on the land that was purchased for JK Bhawan in Dwarka and Mumbai. The Deputy Chief Minister praised the team for their hard work and successful execution of infrastructure projects and expressed gratitude for the department's efforts. He instructed the officials to speed up the ongoing work, stressing the significance of timely execution and making sure that all goals are reached within the allotted time frames. In all building and maintenance operations, the concerned officials were also instructed by the Deputy Chief Minister to rigorously follow the rules and specifications. He underlined that in order to guarantee the highest standards of quality in public works, frequent and thorough inspections are necessary. In keeping with the great legacy of J&K's warmth and hospitality, the Dy CM has directed that the hospitality services in all of the J&K Resident Commission's Guest Houses be improved and continuously maintained to provide visitors with a classy and inviting experience.
