June 4, 2025: According to an official on Wednesday, AAP leaders Manish Sisodia and Satyendar Jain have been called before the Delhi government's Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) regarding allegations of corruption in the building of classrooms in government schools.
According to him, Sisodia was called in for interrogation on June 9 and Jain was directed to appear before the ACB on June 6.
The ruling BJP was allegedly targeting its politicians with the help of Delhi's Anti-Corruption Branch, according to the Aam Aadmi Party.
The AAP claimed that the ACB summons was "pure politics" and that there was no corruption in the classroom construction that the two leaders are accused of.
"By no means is this a fraud. The BJP is using it as a well-thought-out political strategy. They are attacking AAP leaders and spreading a false narrative by using institutions as weapons. These accusations are without merit. The AAP declared that it was purely political.
The BJP did not immediately respond to the accusations made by the AAP.
The summons follows the ACB's April 30 filing of a formal complaint (FIR) alleging Rs 2,000 crore in financial irregularities in the construction of more than 12,000 classrooms or semi-permanent buildings in Delhi government schools.
According to officials, Jain, who was in charge of the public works department and other ministries at the time, and Sisodia, who oversaw the finance and education portfolios of the previous AAP government in the nation's capital, are being questioned in relation to purported shortcomings that the Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) has identified.
The assessment from the CVC's Chief Technical Examiner identified a number of irregularities in the project. According to Madhur Verma, the Joint Commissioner of Police (ACB), the report was allegedly ignored for almost three years.
According to Verma, the FIR was filed following the competent authority's consent under Section 17-A of the Prevention of Corruption Act.
"The BJP methodically defanged the ACB to deny it any actual power when the Aam Aadmi Party was in office in Delhi. They are now targeting AAP leaders and advancing their own agenda by using the same weak institution as a tool, the AAP claimed in a statement.
After almost 26 years in Delhi, the BJP took control of the city after the February elections.
The average cost per classroom, according to the lawsuit, was Rs 24.86 lakh, which is far more than the anticipated Rs 5 lakh cost for comparable constructions.
Officials stated that an investigation is presently in progress and that additional measures would be implemented in response to the results of the investigation.
