May 30, 2025: Rattan Lal Gupta, the provincial president of the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (NC), said there is nothing to be afraid of and encouraged people, especially visitors from all across the nation, to visit Jammu and Kashmir in huge numbers on Thursday.
He claimed that in order to allay the fears of the populace, especially visitors, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah arranged government meetings at the well-known tourist locations of Pahalgam and Gulmarg.
In an effort to allay fears, encourage travel, and guarantee a positive experience for tourists, Abdullah selected Gulmarg in the Baramulla area on Wednesday to host another gathering of high-ranking officials after presiding over a Cabinet and tour operators' conference in Pahalgam.
"We want pilgrims and visitors to visit Pahalgam, Gulmarg, Sonmarg, and other tourism destinations, whether they are there to see Baba Amarnath or Mata Vaishno Devi. Gupta told reporters here, "There should be no fear in anyone's mind; we are ready to welcome them."
He was responding to a barrage of inquiries on whether Chief Minister Omar Abdullah's cycling and NC Chief Farooq Abdullah's golfing will contribute to a resurgence of tourism.
"The Cabinet meeting in Pahalgam, the officers' meeting in Gulmarg, Farooq Abdullah's golf game, and Omar Abdullah's cycling all give a strong message to the people and tourists that everything is normal and that they should come here in big numbers." He said that it was done to allay public concern.
He said that they should not pay attention to terrorism threats. "Come and appreciate the beauty of Jammu and Kashmir—it is still a wonderland," he remarked.
He made the following statement on the Amarnath Yatra, which is about to begin in Jammu and Kashmir: "We urge all pilgrims to come boldly and in great numbers. Their presence will send a powerful message that will thwart the malicious plans of terrorists and those who fund them from Pakistan and other countries across the border.
At an event in Jammu, Gupta was present when well-known activist Kuldeep Raj Sharma, who just quit the BJP, joined the National Conference.
