A Special Police Officer (SPO) was found dead in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch district on Tuesday, with initial investigations suggesting that he had sustained fatal injuries in a road accident.
The body of SPO Khaliq Hussain was found in a field about 10 feet below the main road near Kankote village and his motorcycle was lying near it, said Deepak Pathania, Sub-Divisional Officer, Poonch Police Station.
He said that Hussain, who was posted with the police lines in Poonch district, suffered injuries on his head and according to preliminary reports, he died in a road accident.
The body of the deceased has been sent to the Poonch District Hospital for postmortem, the police said, adding that the police have started investigation proceedings.
