Security forces combed the dense forests of Gadole in Kashmir Valley's Anantnag district for the seventh day on Tuesday. It is one of the longest anti-militancy operations in Jammu and Kashmir, which claimed the lives of three officers and one soldier.
On Monday, two bodies were found in a wooded area. One of them was Constable Pradeep, who was killed by terrorists on Wednesday last week. The identity of the other has not yet been confirmed, officials said.
The police authorities have been silent on the operation for the last four days. They believe that two or three terrorists are trapped in a wooded area.
The operation began on Wednesday when terrorists killed Colonel Manpreet Singh, Commandant, 19 Rashtriya Rifles, Major Ashish Dhonchak, and Jammu and Kashmir Deputy Commissioner of Police Humayun Bhat. Pradeep went missing on the first day of the meeting and was presumed dead.

Authorities previously said drone footage showed a charred body near a terrorist hideout destroyed in one of the operations. Security forces are using drones and helicopters to search the densely forested area, which has several cave-like hideouts where the terrorists are believed to have been since Wednesday. On Sunday, the security cordon was extended to the adjacent Posh Kreer area as a precaution to prevent terrorists from slipping into civilian areas.
Speaking here late on Sunday, Lt. Governor Manoj Sinha said that every drop of blood of the slain security personnel would be avenged and the handlers of the terrorists would have to pay a heavy price. "We have full faith in our soldiers... The entire nation stands in solidarity with the jawans," Sinha said.

Senior officials of the Kashmir Security Network, including the Director General of Police (DGP) and the 15th Army Commander (GOC), monitored the operation.
