Police shot and arrested a suspected criminal in Greater Noida who was allegedly involved in a dozen cases, including robbery and murder, police said on Monday.
The encounter took place late Sunday night during a check near Dadha roundabout in Kasna police station area, Additional DCP (Greater Noida) Ashok Kumar said.
- The accused was riding a motorcycle when he was ordered to stop at a police checkpoint. However, instead of stopping, he accelerated towards Dadha roundabout. The police team tried to stop him, but he opened fire on them, Kumar said. “The police team overpowered him tactically and started a return fire in which he was injured by a bullet after which he was arrested.

"Pilot and some bullets were recovered from his possession. He was taken to hospital for treatment," said the additional DCP.
The person was later identified as Chandrabhan Singh, 40, a resident of the Gulawathi area of ​​neighboring Bulandshahr district, the officer said.
Preliminary investigation revealed that Singh was accused in a dozen criminal cases, including murder, robbery, extortion, and planning in Gautam Buddh Nagar, Bulandshahr, and Hapur areas, Kumar said.
