Wicketkeeper-batsman KL Rahul, whose form is under the scanner, was named in India's 15-member World Cup squad on Tuesday as seven batsmen and four all-rounders were selected for the tournament.
Rahul was sidelined for several months with a hamstring injury. He is part of the ongoing Asian Cup, but he is yet to perform. His return was delayed due to injury before the Asian Cup.
- We had some form problems but all three players are back. KL looks good. We believe this team will give us the best balance for this World Cup,” chief selector Ajit Agarkar said.
"KL looked really good there, but he got heartburn right before the Asian Cup. He's over the top. He's an important player for us and we're happy for him."

Hardik Pandya was appointed as the vice-captain of the team. Pacer Prasidh Krishna and left-arm rookie Tilak Varma, part of the Asia Cup squad, did not make the cut.
The marquee ICC tournament begins on October 5 with England versus New Zealand in Ahmedabad.
India will play their first match against Australia on October 8 in Chennai.

Squad: Rohit Sharma (captain), Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, Ishan Kishan, KL Rahul, Hardik Pandya (vice-captain), Suryakumar Yadav, Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, Shardul Thakur, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, and Kuldeep Yadav .
