Manipur govt extends night curfew till July 20


The Manipur government on Friday extended the night curfew from 7 pm to 5 am in all districts across the state till July 20. An order issued by Manipur Chief Secretary Dr Rajesh Kumar, the chairperson of the state executive committee of the State Disaster Management Authority, said, "The Covid-19 situation in the state continues to be of concern and measures are still required to control the spread of the infection." "Night curfew from 7 pm to 5 am shall be imposed in all districts. Authorised Service Centres of personal computers and mobiles may open from 10 am to 2 pm on the days when grocery shops are closed. Further, opening up will depend on the Covid scenario and the progress in vaccination," the order said. As per the guidelines, vegetable vendors and grocery stores will open as previously scheduled on July 12, 15, and 18 from 7 am to 10 am. "High court may decide its activities, based on various measures taken up by the government, as deemed appropriate," said the order. The Manipur government directed the deputy commissioners and superintendents of police to take the necessary steps to ensure that orders were strictly enforced. Manipur on Friday reported 854 new Covid-19 cases and 10 deaths. The cumulative number of positive cases in the state stands at 76,032.
