National Exit Test, NExT exam draft guidelines is released. The National Medical Commission, NMC released the NExT exam guidelines draft on December 28 and invited suggestions from the stakeholders. NMC NExT is prepared in accordance with the NMC Act, 2019 which prescribed a National Exit Test (NExT) for medical graduates. The draft is released for public comments. Know how you can share comments on the draft regulations below. The comments and suggestions can be submitted via Email ID - [email protected] in MS Word (.docx) format or machine readable PDF format within 30 days of the draft release date. The subject line of the Email should have the tagline 'Comments on draft regulations regarding National Exit Test(NExT)'. The NExT regulations will come into effect after its publication in the Official Gazette. The draft does not mention any implementation date. However, NExT exam is expected to be implemented from December 2023. Accordingly, it is expected that the examination would be conducted from next year, which is 2023. NExT is applicable to all undergraduate medical students pursuing the degree of MBBS, All Foreign Medical Graduates or any other person with a Medical Degree for purposes such as pursuing an academic course. The NExT test will certify the eligibility of the medical graduate to register and practice modern system of medicine in India and therefore serve as a Licentiate Examination. As per the broad outline shared in the NExT draft, the National Exit Test will comprise of two separate examinations called as "Steps". NExT Step 1 shall be a Theoretical Examination and NExT Step 2 shall be a Practical /Clinical and Viva Voce Examination covering seven clinical subjects/disciplines.NMC has released the scoring, qualifying marks, and other important guidelines in the draft.
