Punjab, Maharashtra CMs to Review Situation as Covid-19 Cases Spike; Mumbai Police Says Mask is Must
23-February-2021

The chief ministers of Maharashtra and Punjab, Uddhav Thackeray and Capt Amarinder Singh, will review the situation in their states with regards to the coronavirus pandemic and preparedness to deal with it. The meetings come as both Punjab and Maharashtra have registered sudden spike in the number of infections. Apart from enforcing night curfews and increasing fines, the Mumbai Police today asked people to wear a mask to not only save themselves from the pandemic but also hefty fines.

The United States crossed the staggering milestone of 500,000 Covid-19 deaths just over a year since the coronavirus pandemic claimed its first known victim in Santa Clara County, California. In a proclamation honoring the dead, President Joe Biden ordered the U.S. flag to be flown at half-staff on public buildings and grounds until sunset on Friday. "On this solemn occasion, we reflect on their loss and on their loved ones left behind," Biden said in the proclamation. "We, as a Nation, must remember them so we can begin to heal, to unite, and find purpose as one Nation to defeat this pandemic."
