Homegrown handset maker Micromax is working to launch a new 5G phone and also foray into the accessories category that may include a pair of TWS earbuds, according to the company co-founder Rahul Sharma, the media has reported. According to Sharma, Micromax, which made a comeback in the Indian smartphone industry last year, would unveil its 5G smartphone 'soon'. According to the Micromax top executive, the company's engineers at its Bengaluru R&D facility are working rigorously towards launching a 5G phone. Sharma noted that the company would launch the 5G device soon, but he did not specify a timeline of the launch, according to a report in Gadgets 360. The top company executive also indicated that Micromax would foray into the true wireless stereo (TWS) earbuds category in the country as well. Earlier in December, Micromax co-founder Sharma had hosted a virtual session on YouTube where he had hinted at the company's efforts in developing a new smartphone which would get 6GB of RAM. He also stated that the phone will feature high refresh rates and liquid cooling and will be the next model in the In series. Rahul Sharma and Micromax India Product Head, Sunil Joon addressed a number of user concerns during a session and stated that Micromax would start selling its smartphones offline in the Indian market soon. During the session, Sharma indicated that a new phone with 6GB of RAM was in the works and this new smartphone will not be a variant of the recently launched Note 1. The In Note 1 features 4GB of RAM with storage options at 64GB and 128GB. Other than 6GB of RAM, Sharma also hinted that the smartphone would arrive with liquid cooling and high refresh rates on the next Micromax In-series. He also stated that Micromax had started bundling a back cover panel with the Note 1.
