06-02-2021

Ahead of farmers' nationwide chakka jam, the Delhi police have made elaborate security arrangements in the national capital with extensive barricading at the borders and heavy police deployment at Red Fort as preventive measures. The farmers will observe a three-hour-long 'chakka jam' today from 12 pm to 3 pm in protest against the internet ban in areas near their agitation sites, harassment allegedly meted out to them by authorities and other issues. The paramilitary forces have also been deployed at various parts of Delhi-NCR including borders to assist the police in maintaining law and order situation amid chakka jam. Around 50,000 personnel of Delhi Police, Paramilitary and Reserve Forces deployed in Delhi-NCR region. At least 12 metro stations in the national capital have been put on alert for closing the entry and exit, in view of any disturbance, the Delhi Police said.

The intel reports with police say that several political parties mostly from Left groups will be carrying protests at Shahidi Park and a large number of trade unions and farmers organisations will be participating part in it, reports news agency. Police along with the barricading measures at the Minto Bridge area deployed. The area has been blockaded as a peremptory counter-measure to thwart the calls. Barbed wires placed over police barricades seen in Delhi's ITO area. Adequate security arrangements are in place at borders to prevent any untoward incident and social media contents are under surveillance to prevent the spread of false rumours ahead of 'chakka jam', the police had said on Friday.
