Indian Railways to restart Tejas train operations from February 14

Very soon, rail passengers will be able to travel in Tejas Express trains. The Indian Railway Catering And Tourism Corporation Limited (IRCTC) has announced the relaunch of Tejas trains from February 14; the said trains have not been operating since last March due to COVID pandemic.

As per the reports, both Ahmedabad-Mumbai and Lucknow-New Delhi Tejas trains will start operating from February. Referring to this, IRCTC informed that after receiving permission from the Railway Ministry, they have started preparations to restart the trains with all the safety and hygiene measures.

Reportedly, bookings for all seats will initially open for four days a week, i.e., Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday. These trains have more than 700 pax capacity. And, in view of maintaining the safety standards, passengers will be provided COVID-19 protection kit, which will have a bottle of hand sanitizers, one pair of gloves, one face shield, and a mask. Reports have it that in a bid to ensure adequate social distancing, IRCTC have decided to keep every alternate seat on these two trains vacant. Further, passengers will be required to undergo thermal screening and hand sanitization process before entering a coach.

The Lucknow-Delhi IRCTC Tejas Express first started operations in October 2019, while the Ahmedabad-Mumbai Tejas Express hit the tracks in January, 2020. To book tickets, you can check the e-ticketing website of IRCTC and IRCTC Rail Connect App.

Further, the coach with lavatories and pantry areas will be thoroughly disinfected at regular intervals. Passengers� baggage and luggage will be disinfected by a staff deputed for this purpose. Trolleys and service trays will also undergo disinfection process, whereas frequently touched surfaces inside the coach will be cleaned and regularly disinfected.
