Kerala Colleges to reopen from January 4 for final year students for all streams

Colleges in Kerala are set to reopen from January 4, 2021. The state government has announced the same, stating that in the first phase for the students of fifth and sixth semester undergraduate courses of all streams. Post graduate and research courses would also be permitted to begin the classes from January 4. Faculty members as well as non-teaching staff have been permitted to resume from December 28 onwards. In the order, the Kerala Government has also listed out the Standard Operating Procedures or SOPs for reopening of colleges. To begin with, the classes would be conducted in two shifts between 8:30 am to 5:00 pm. Also, a 50% limit of the class strength has been allowed. Dates for reopening of colleges for the remaining classes would be released later. The order includes all undergraduate students in Arts and Science, Law, Music, Fine Arts, Polytechnic Colleges and other technical institutions. Notably, the earlier order with SOPs was to reopen the colleges from January 1, 2021 for agricultural and fisheries colleges. This has now been extended for all streams and the colleges would roepen from January 4. The Government has also shared suggestions that the schools may be reopened for classes 10 and 12 from Janaury 1st week. No dates have been announced as yet. There is no decision as yet in regards the reduction in syllabus for the public examinations. The Education Department, however, has announced the exam dates for Kerala SSLC and DHSE +2 Examinations 2021.
