Observing that illicit relationship is the biggest weapon of cheating that destroys the family, the Delhi High Court has convicted a woman and her alleged lover for the murder woman's husband. "The illicit relationships are a perfect mix for disaster turning the family system into hell, Aditional Session judge Vinod Yadav observed while pronouncing the judgment. The woman convict, Shanti and her brother-in-law Satender (sister's husband) were accused of killing her husband in 2015, according to a report. "The deceased being found dead within the secured precincts of his house raises an irresistible inference that he was murdered by the accused in a pre-planned conspiracy, the court held while observing that the accused were in an illicit relationship. Asphyxiation was concluded as the cause of the death of Dilip in the postmortem report. During the investigation, police claimed the Satender was having an affair with Shanti as he stayed at her house at the time Dilip died. The testimony of Dilip's sister-in-law supported the allegations that the two were in an illicit relationship and she saw both the accused in a compromising position. During the trial, Shanti claimed her husband died after he fell from the stairs as he was heavily drunk. While Satender argued that it was Dilip's sister-in-law who had framed him as he did not agree to partner in her business. The two accused also claimed that the items seized by police were actually planted by the police. While discussing the nature of the evidence on record, the court said highlighted five circumstances to hold that it was a murder. "The onus was on the accused (Shanti and Satender) residing in the house that to give a logical explanation about the untimely, and unnatural death of Dilip," the court observed.
