American singer and actress Mary Millben's rendition of the famous devotional hymn 'Om Jai Jagdish Hare' goes viral on the internet ahead of Diwali. Posted on YouTube, the singer is dressed in traditional Indian attire which is an Orange and Pink lehenga with beautiful details on it. She is also wearing jewellery and has a bindi on her forehead. In her soulful voice, she is singing the hymn. Om Jai Jagdish Hare, a beautiful Hindi hymn commonly sung during Diwali and in Indian households worldwide, is a song of worship and celebration. This hymn continues to move me, touch my spirit, and stir my passion for Indian culture, she said in the tweet sharing the YouTube video of the rendition. Millben also shared a behind the scenes footage of the video on the microblogging site dated November 11. She tweeted, So blessed to virtually perform for Diwali 2020 and cannot wait to share it with you all. On YouTube, her soulful rendition got a lot of love. Most of the comments came from desi netizens who were moved by the way she sang the hymn. "It touches my heart and soul," one user said. Another one said, "Being Indian, I am so proud of my culture and what I really appreciate is you learning Hindi, respecting our culture, trying to understand what this hymn really means." Very rarely, non-Indian artistes are able to appreciate anything steeped in Indian tradition without understanding the nuances of the same. Millben's rendition received a lot of appreciation for her effort to understand and respect our culture. She is no stranger to this outpour of love from Indians. On Independence Day, a video of her singing the national anthem went viral which was shared extensively. She is known for her classical music prowess and has sung for American presidents such as George W. Bush, Barack Obama and the outgoing Donald Trump.
