Amitabh Bachchan is back as a host in Kaun Banega Crorepati 12. The gaming reality show premiered on September 28 on Sony TV. The new season of KBC began with a few changes due to the novel coronavirus pandemic. There was no live audience on the sets and instea of 10, there were only eight contestants to play Fastest Finger First. KBC 12's first contestant to get on the hot seat was Bhopal's Aarti Jagtap who won Rs 6.4 lakh. After taking the hot seat, Aarti Jagtap easily crossed Rs 10,000 mark without using any lifeline. The engineering student shared her family's ordeal. During the lockdown, it was a difficult phase for the family, financially, as Aarti's parent could not go to work for three months. They managed by taking loans from people. She revealed that her mother, who was also present in the studio, cooks at others' house and her father is a plumber. Aarti used her first lifeline Flip The Question for answering Rs 20,000. She got confused and opted for a different question and answered it correctly. She used her second lifeline 50:50 for the next question, which was for Rs 40,000. Soon, Aarti used her third lifeline Video-a-Friend. This a new lifeline introduced by the makers in place of Audience Poll, as the live audience is missing from the show. Aarti used her last lifeline Ask The Expert and won Rs 1,60,000. Aarti answered the next two questions correctly and won Rs 6,40,000. She decided to quit the show after winning Rs 6.4 lakh as she wasn't sure for Rs 12,50,000 question. Aarti Jagtap was replaced by Sonu Kumar Gupta on the hot seat. He had used one lifeline and won Rs 10,000 before the episode came to an end.
