Fashion designer Sharbari Dutta found dead at Kolkata home

Celebrated fashion designer Sharbari Dutta was found dead at her residence in Kolkata on Thursday evening, news agency PTI reports. She was 63. Her family told that Sharbari Dutta died after suffering a stroke. Sharbari Dutta lived alone at her home in Broad Street. She was found dead in the washroom of her residence on September 17. Citing Dutta�s family sources, reports that the designer was not reachable on phone since last morning. The cause of Dutta�s death is a stroke, doctors said. Her body, though, was sent for postmortem since she was found dead in the washroom, family sources said. On social media, members of the Bengali film fraternity including Raj Chakraborty and Arindam Sil, condoled Sharbari Dutta�s death. �Shocked to learn about the demise of #SharbariDutta who put Bengal on the map with constant experiments of Bangali clothing and creations. I'm lucky to have worked and been styled by her. I hope she's in a better place now,� Raj tweeted. Arindam Sil said in an emotional note on Twitter, �Sharbaridi (#SharbariDutta) was such a dear person to me. I am shell shocked to hear that she is no more. Such a wonderful and ever smiling woman. A talent who was our pride. Hope you will be in peace where you are now Sharbaridi.� Daughter of Bengali poet Ajit Dutta, Sharbari Dutta�s label became popular for her unique blend of ethnicity with modernity. She was known for designing men�s ethnic wear. She established her own brand, Shunyaa, in Kolkata soon after and also dabbled into women's clothing. Sharbari Dutta is survived by her son Amalin Dutta.
