Triumphs Behemoth On Two-Wheels Launching Today

9 Septmber, 2020

Triumph Motorcycles will be launching the new Rocket 3 GT in India today. The upcoming cruiser is expected to be priced under Rs 20 lakh (ex-showroom), making it among the most expensive Triumph bikes to go on sale in India. The British brand already has the Rocket 3 R -- which was launched at the 2019 India Bike Week in Goa -- on sale in India at Rs 18 lakh (ex-showroom).

As the name indicates, the Rocket 3 GT is a more touring-friendly and cruiser variant of the standard Rocket 3. It gets additional goodies in the form of better cushioned seats, swept-back handlebar along with adjustable forward-set footpegs for better comfort and windscreen. To offer the pillion rider better comfort, the Rocket 3 GT also features a backrest. On the cosmetic front, it gets different colour options and diamond-cut alloy wheels that add a bit of bling. Its available in two colour options: Silver Ice and Storm Gray (dual tone) and Phantom Black.

The most vital element of the Rocket 3 has always been its engine and with the new bike, Triumph engineers have raised the bar. The new Rocket 3 GT is powered by a massive 2,458cc triple-cylinder motor, which is also unsurprisingly the highest displacement motor for a series production bike on sale currently in the world. The engine pumps out an impressive 167PS but the highlight is the earth-moving 221Nm of torque! No wonder Triumph engineers have equipped the bike with electronic aids such as four riding modes, cornering ABS, traction control and cruise control. The Triumph Rocket 3 GT is a unique motorcycle with no direct rivals. The only other behemoth that comes close to it is the Honda Goldwing.
