Namrta Sharma demands political reservation for women in J&K

Jammu, 2-September-2020

Over a hundred women leaders and workers from different political parties today joined Jammu and Kashmir Apni Party (JKAP) in presence of Party President Syed Mohammed Altaf Bukhari.
In a statement to the press, the joining was arranged by the Provincial President, Women Wing, Jammu, Namrta Sharma in which over a hundred women joined J&K Apni Party in presence of Party President Altaf Bukhari.
Speaking on the occasion, Altaf Bukhari welcomed them into the party and hoped that they will work for the empowerment of women.
Speaking on the occasion, Namrta Sharma demanded that the Government should give political reservation to the women in Jammu and Kashmir for their empowerment. The local administration at tehsil and district administration should help the women with welfare schemes launched by the Government.
�Many women especially in rural areas are unaware about the schemes and it is the responsibility of the administration to make them aware about various welfare schemes,� she said and expressed her commitment to strengthen the women wing in Jammu division for their upliftment and empowerment.
She said that women should have political reservation in J&K which has been ignored since decades. The women were a weaker section of the society and it has largely remained unrepresented.
Prominent among those who joined J&K Apni Party include Rajni Sangra, Komal Vaid, Manju Mishra, Deepika Mahajan, Namrita Gupta, Pavneet Kour, Rinky Kumari, Rekha Kumari, Minu Sharma and others.
