IGG Dental College to start PG courses in 7 disciplines

| Jammu |

Indira Gandhi Govt. Dental College, Jammu would now offer PG courses to the students in seven specialties as required permissions and approvals for these courses to be taught at the college have been cleared.
This was informed by the principal of the college, while talking to the reporters on Friday.
He said, This is indeed a landmark movement and will be written in golden words in the history of dental college. Indira Gandhi Govt. Dental College, Jammu was established in the year 2004 and was recognized by Dental Council of India in 2012. There has been a long pending demand for starting MDS course from dental students dental fraternity and the general public of Jammu, Apart from Govt. Dental College, Srinagar, the dental graduates had no other option and most of them used to go outside the Jammu and Kashmir for pursuing post-graduation and for which they had to spend a huge amount. The process of starting post-graduation initiated in early 2019, remained in the quiescent phase until the formation of the union territory.
The inspection for MDS was conducted by dental council of India in the last days of September 2019. I want to mention that it is only because of sheer efforts, guidance and unstinted support of Financial Commissioner Mr. Atal Dulloo who vehemently took up the discussions with the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare Government of India and DCI, and gave an undertaking that all the requirements in term of faculty, machinery and equipment, undertaking that all requirements in term of faculty, machinery ,equipment and infrastructure will be fulfilled within stipulated time frame. Sh. Atal Dulloo constantly remained in touch with ministry officers and Dulloo sir remained constantly in touch with the ministry officials and even made us rush to Delhi for having a meeting with the Ministry of Health Si. Family Welfare Government of India being a DCI member along with then Principal Dr. Romesh Singh in January 2020. The permission from the Government of India for granting permission to start MDS course in seven specialties was received by end of February 2020. JKBOPEE allowed the NEET selected candidate in May and the beginning of June 2020. I also wish to extend special thanks to Hon'ble Vice-Chancellor Jammu University, Dean Academic Jammu university, and Director College Development for providing provisional affiliation for MDS course, approval of the syllabus, the scheme of examination and statues for MDS student on urgent basis during this pandemic lockdown period. Again it was Sh. Atal Dulloo Sir who took personal interest and had a discussion with vice-chancellor Jammu University with regard to above-mentioned affiliation and other related matters.
