Hailing probe on Lal Singh, Harsh says BJP using CBI to browbeat oppn

Referring to the initiation of CBI probe against DSS leader, Ch. Lal Singh, the JKNPP-Chairman and former Minister today described the move as a good action which however originated from a bad intent. He said that Ch. Lal Singh was admittedly in possession of the land in question for the last several years and the said construction was also raised by him long back with a school, college and a nursing institute having been operationalized between 2009-12 as reported. If the Congress-NC govt of the time had sheltered the accused, why did the BJP govt not take action against him after its ascendance to power in 2014? Why did it give the party mandate to Lal Singh? Why did it elevate Ch. Lal Singh as Minister? And why did it wait for six long years to hold probe against him if he had encroached the said State and Forest lands and raised illegal constructions thereupon. Describing the BJP govt�s move as an act of political vendetta, Mr. Singh questioned as to how Lal Singh was allowed a free run upto 2018 by BJP and declared dishonest and corrupt immediately after he quit BJP. Earlier last year, the shopping complex of Lal Singh and his brother was demolished which marked the beginning of political witch-hunting and politics of vengeance by the ruling party. He was addressing a press conference in Jammu today.
Advising the Saffron leaders to give a peep into their own dirty laundry, Mr. Harsh Dev Singh said that BJP blaming Lal Singh was like burglar blaming a pick pocket. �Is Lal Singh�s brother the only encroacher politician in the State? Is there no other politician who has encroached State lands? What about those BJP Ministers who have been involved in Bank frauds, illegal transfers of land, illegal constructions, violation of codal formalities in allotment of contracts, media bribing reports besides large scale encroachments of State and forest lands? An RTI reply revealed that one BJP MLA encroached 22 kanals and 15 marlas of State land in his native village besides having got 10 kanals of State land regularized under the nasty Roshni scheme, but no action has been taken against him so far because he was a member of the ruling party. The way the BJP issued rapid fire clean chits to its erring and corrupt leaders while victimizing its opponents only indicates its double standards and hypocrisy. The BJP has demonstrated how myopic you can get in the pursuit of your vested interests. It has proved that political witch-hunting is a game that has no rules, no protocol, no referee and which can be played by defying all norms�, said Mr. Singh.
The action against Lal Singh would have earned appreciation, had it been taken during his tenure as Minister, observed Harsh adding that present action could only be termed as �State terror� disguised as �Legal process�.
