Three militants were killed in an encounter that broke between security forces and militants in the Lower Munda Area of Qazigund in South Kashmir's Kulgam District on Monday morning.

Official sources told India Today that three militants were killed in a gunfight. However, the slain militants are yet to be identified.

A search operation in the area is underway.

Earlier reports said that a joint team of Police and army's 19 RR launched cordon and search operation in Lower Munda.

As the joint team of forces approached the suspected spot, the militants fired upon them, triggering an encounter.

Last evening, an encounter broke out in the same district at Guddar, Kulgam. Police claimed that two terrorists were gunned down, one body has been recovered so far.
