14 years spent in jail bars, now MBBS

Subhash Patil of Kalaburagi realized his dream while in jail. In childhood, his dream was to become a doctor and serve the people. A few years later he was arrested by the Bangalore Police on charges of murder. The court then sentenced him to 14 years in prison.
The 40-year-old Subhash, who is behind bars, did not stop himself from pursuing his childhood dream of becoming a doctor. Subhash Patil was arrested by the Bangalore Police in November 2002 on charges of murder. The court then sent him behind bars, convicting him for 14 years.

Subhash was arrested, he was a third-year student at MR Medical College, Kalaburagi. After this, on the occasion of Independence Day in the year 2016, he was released from jail on the grounds of good conduct.

Subhash, a resident of Bhosaga in Afzalpur area in Kalaburagi, did not give up his dream after his arrest. He assisted doctors at Central Jail Hospital. Subhash said that in 2008, the Health Department had honored him for the treatment of inmates affected by tuberculosis.

Subhash completed a diploma in journalism in the year 2007 while in jail. After this, he did his MA in Journalism in 2010 from Karnataka State Open University.

Subhash says that hard work and remorse of crime led him to this destination. He completed his MBBS in 2019 and today he has completed a one-year internship. He appreciated the support of Father Tukaram Patil in reaching this destination.

Subhash says that I am grateful to the state government and the governor who ordered my release for my good conduct. He asked his future to be ready to serve the poor.
