Notification for the posts of vacant Panch Sarpanches by-elections in the UT of J&K can be issued soon by the Election Commission. According to sources, preparations for this have been completed. After the by-election, the Panchayati system in the state will get further strengthened. Panch sarpanch organizations have been demanding by-elections for a long time.

Panchayat elections were held in Jammu and Kashmir in December 2018. But due to boycott and terrorist threats by the major regional political parties NC and PDP, elections in more than 12,000 Panch-Sarpanches seats were not held in the Kashmir division.

Apart from this, some seats are lying vacant in the Jammu division due to some cases under consideration and for other reasons. Apart from this, the seats of those members have also become vacant after becoming the BDC chairman. All J&K Panchayat Conference chief Anil Sharma said that he has been demanding a by-election for a long time. The Panchayati system will be expanded in J&K in case of early elections. The development of panchayats will get a new path after filling all the seats.
