After introducing its Futuro-e concept at the Auto Expo, Maruti Suzuki has now unveiled the new Jimny for the common people. In the Indian market, the company can launch it under the name Gypsy soon. The model is the long-wheelbase Suzuki Jimny Sierra that is being sold in Europe, while its shorter wheelbase was the Kei car version in Japan.

The new Maruti Suzuki Gypsy / Jimny will be sold through Nexa and the company will include it in the premium category. The company will manufacture it mostly locally and position it above the Vitara Brezza. However, its price may be slightly less than XL6. In the new Maruti Suzuki Gypsy / Jimny, the company will offer the same 1.5-liter K15B petrol engine that is offered in the CIaz, Ertiga and XL6. This engine generates 75 kW power at 6000 rpm and torque of 130 Nm at 4000 rpm. Apart from this, the company will also provide all grip pro technology with 4WD, so that it can run smoothly in all terrains.

The new car is being given a 5-speed manual transmission as standard and will come with a 4-speed torque converter automatic transmission. The same automatic transmission found in it is also being given in Maruti Suzuki Ciaz. It has a length of 3550mm, width 1645mm, height 1730mm and wheelbase 2250mm. Apart from this, the company can also equip Gypsy / Jimny with SHVS or mild hybrid system, but there is no confirmation from the company.
