Wednesday, three terrorists, who came on a scooter, attacked the CRPF jawans at Lavepora Narbal Nak on the Srinagar-Baramulla highway connecting Srinagar to the Kashmir capital of Muzaffarabad. The vigilant soldiers of the 73 battalions of CRPF also came into action and opened fire on the terrorists in response. Two terrorists who were running in this shootout were killed while a CRPF jawan was also killed. There have also been reports of a civilian injured in the shootout. The third terrorist who was absconding from the spot is caught alive by the security forces after a search operation. Both the slain terrorists belong to the Islamic State of Jammu and Kashmir (ISJK) organization. One of them has been identified as Khatib resident Anantnag.

According to information received from the police, the terrorists carried out the attack around 11.30 am. This barrier has been established by the 73rd Battalion of CRPF to check vehicles in the Lavepora Narbal area on the highway. There is also a vaccine college just a short distance from this block. Three terrorists aboard the scooty suddenly reached the barrier and opened fire on the soldiers stationed there and tried to escape. Meanwhile, a CRPF jawan was seriously injured, while the other jawans immediately took their positions and opened fire on the fleeing terrorists. During these two terrorists were killed on the spot.

The third terrorist was also shot but hid in an adjacent residential area in an injured state. SOG, army and CRPF personnel arrived at the scene soon after the attack and started searching for a third terrorist while sieging the area. After this search operation which lasted for about an hour, the third terrorist has been caught alive by the security forces. Weapons have also been recovered from him. All three terrorists belonging to the Islamic State of Jammu and Kashmir (ISJK) organization. Till now only one of these terrorists has been identified. However, the army has not given any information about this yet. At the same time, the seriously injured CRPF jawan died before suffering any injuries on the way before reaching the hospital.
