Several delegations including All J&K Panchayat Conference, Forum for Peace and Territorial Integrity J&K, Jammu and All J&K Shri Guru Ravi Dass Sabha on Friday called on the Lieutenant Governor, Girish Chandra Murmu at the Raj Bhavan here and projected their concerning demands.

A delegation of All J&K Panchayat Conference headed by its President Anil Sharma comprising of its members- Amjid Hussain Khatana, Raja Singh, Des Raj Bhagat, and Rohit Sharma projected the demands related to the implementation of 73rd Constitutional Amendment, District Planning and Development Board (PDB) elections, welfare of Sarpanchs & Panchs, etc.

While interacting with the members of the delegation, the Lt Governor reiterated the government’s commitment to implement the 73rd Constitutional Amendment for complete empowerment of Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs).

A delegation of Forum for Peace and Territorial Integrity J&K, Jammu led by former Member of Parliament, Sheikh Abdul Rehman submitted a memorandum of demands pertaining to early Assembly elections, the constitution of Regional & Hill Development Councils and other issues of public importance.

A delegation of All J&K Shri Guru Ravi Dass Sabha headed by its President, Piran Ditta apprised the Lt Governor about their concerning issues.

The Lt Governor listened to the issues and demands put forth by the members of the delegations and assured them to take up their genuine issues for examination and early redressal. He observed that the present dispensation is taking outcome-based measures to fulfill the aspirations of the people of the Union Territory of J&K.

Meanwhile, Dr. Rajeev Lochan Bishnoi, Director, Jammu & Kashmir Bank also met the Lieutenant Governor and discussed wide ranging issues pertaining to the efficient functioning of the bank. The Lt Governor stressed on the high importance of ensuring close monitoring of the fiscal health of the bank, besides maintaining transparency and accountability in its functioning.
