Kashmir will become part of the World Heritage Site

The land of Kashmir, which is rich in natural beauty and realizes heaven on earth, will now also be a part of the World Heritage Site. The government has started the exercise to include the Mughal Gardens in the list of World Heritage Sites. Famous architect Abha Narayan Lamba has been appointed as an advisor to draft it. Lamba will prepare the draft in five months, after which the state government will nominate.

The state government has declared them as state heritage sites in the year 2017. These gardens were built in the 16th and 17th centuries under the rule of the Mughal rulers Jahangir, Shahjahan, and Darashikoh.

The government is collecting documents from the concerned departments to include the Mughal Gardens in the World Heritage List. Documents will be prepared by incorporating this information into the draft.

Once the Mughal Garden gets a place in the UNESCO World Heritage List, people will get increased attraction towards it internationally. Tourists from all over the world will be able to know its beauty and history, as well as international procedures and norms, will be used for its preservation.

All the gardens were built during the Mughal rule. Mughal emperors used to come for holidays in these gardens. The garden displays Mughal carpet art, including paper art from Kashmir. It was prepared by Iranian craftsmen. The garden has 16 and 17th century fountains. Its construction gives the finest glimpse of erstwhile engineering.

The Mughal Gardens consists of six parts, including Nishat Bagh, Shalimar Bagh, Chashme Shahi, Pari Mahal, Verinag and Achabal. It is said that Mughal emperor Chashme used to carry water from Shahi to Delhi. Poplar trees in these gardens add beauty to their beauty.
