On the first Republic Day in New Jammu and Kashmir, the government has given the gift of mobile internet restoration to common citizens. Mobile Internet service suspended for more than five months after the removal of Article 370 has been reinstated throughout Jammu and Kashmir since Saturday. At present, the internet speed will be 2G only.

This facility will be available to both postpaid and prepaid mobile holders. The government has also released the White List list of 301 websites, which consumers can use. Earlier, a white list of 153 websites was released. The order was issued on Friday on behalf of Home Department Principal Secretary Shaleen Kabra.

The order said that 2G internet service on mobile will be restored till 31 January. After review, it will be considered to continue. On January 18, 2G mobile internet facility was restored in all 10 districts of Jammu division and two districts of Kashmir division, Kupwara, and Bandipora.

The benefit of the mobile Internet was given only to postpaid mobile subscribers, but the fresh order includes both prepaid and postpaid. In order to give people the benefit of communication services, companies that work in software or IT will be provided with fixed-line internet service. To take advantage of the Internet on mobile SIMs, companies have to do verification.

Along with this, it has been instructed that consumers should not monitor the Internet, they should monitor it themselves. Postpaid service was reinstated in Kashmir on October 14, but prepaid service was discontinued due to security reasons.

Website of banking, news, education, entertainment in the white list.
White websites include areas of banking, education, entertainment, tourism, news, facilities, weather, etc. Their information has been given to telecom companies. Following the intervention of the Supreme Court, the administration has restored 2G service on the mobile Internet in a phased manner.

No social sites are available.
Mobile companies have been asked to ensure that consumers do not use social media sites. The order stated that communication services were restored in a phased manner after reviewing the situation.
