The inaugural ceremony of 15-day Theatre Workshop for School Children, organised under the aegis of Ladakh Academy of Art, Culture and Languages, Leh, UT Ladakh was held in Lotsava Auditorium on Tuesday. The event was organised as a part of Cultural Academy's pursuit for encouragement of cultural values and to inculcate cultural awareness pertaining to moral values among the youth besides attempting to revive the tradition of art and culture in Ladakh.

The 15-day long workshop exercise was inaugurated by Jigmet Angmo, the youngest participant of the workshop. Deputy Secretary Culture, Tsewang Paljor was the Chief Guest while Cultural Incharge Education, Sonam Yangchan Chandus was Guest of Honour on the occasion. Speaking on the occasion, Tsewang Paljor said that such workshops are ideal platform for children wherein they get a chance to explore their hidden talents besides polishing their raw talent under the guidance of professional hands.

He informed that Cultural Academy Leh advertised the programme through local radio and within two-days, got a huge response. "Due to paucity of space, we only accommodated 25 students at a time for the workshop," he added.

The workshop is being conducted under the guidance of Tsetan Angchuk. About 50 young school children, both boys and girls, from different parts of Leh applied for participation in the workshop. The workshop programme is being conducted in two phases due to the shortage of space in harsh winter weather.
