Aug 28, 2025: According to the Chinese foreign ministry, a massive military parade will be held in Beijing to commemorate Japan's formal surrender during World War II. Among the foreign leaders expected to participate are North Korean leader Kim Jong Un and Russian President Vladimir Putin. Attending the parade will be 26 foreign heads of state and government, Assistant Foreign Minister Hong Lei said at a news conference.

Also attending will be Belarus's President Aleksandr Lukashenko, Iran's President Masoud Pezashkian, Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto and South Korea's National Assembly Speaker Woo Won-shik.

On September 3, China's "Victory Day" parade is expected to be a significant display of China's growing military might and a demonstration of diplomatic cooperation between China, Russia, and the Global South.

Along with foreign dignitaries and senior Chinese leaders, President Xi Jinping will survey tens of thousands of troops that day at Tiananmen Square. The highly choreographed military parade, which is anticipated to be one of China's largest in recent years, will feature cutting-edge pieces of technology like hypersonic weapons, missile defense systems, and fighter jets.
