A number of children aged between 3-8 years hailing from rural areas in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir continues to be poor in terms of getting basic education. The much fanfare with which various schemes/ measures were announced by the successive governments in J&K to strengthen the elementary education, especially in rural belts, the ground reality is entirely different.
