June 4, 2025: On Tuesday, an all-party delegation headed by Shashi Tharoor landed in Washington, DC. According to the Indian Embassy in the US, the delegation will meet with members of the US Congress over the course of the next two days, including the House Foreign Affairs Committee, Senate Foreign Relations Committee, and the India Caucus. Additionally, the group will engage with a range of media outlets and meet with scholars from prominent think tanks. They will meet with Indian diaspora members on Wednesday night and give a speech at the Council for Foreign Relations in Washington, DC, on Thursday.

The visit comes after Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri visited the United States last week, when he discussed ways to increase economic and technology collaboration between the two countries. However, there has been a recent public dispute between the US and India over the ceasefire announcement on May 10. India has denied that US President Donald Trump is using trade as leverage to forge a peace pact. With the goal of resolving the matter by October of this year, the two nations are presently engaged in bilateral trade negotiations.
