May 30, 2025: Operation Shield, a civil defense exercise, has been rescheduled from May 29 to May 31. It will examine emergency readiness throughout Jammu & Kashmir.
Operation Shield, a comprehensive civil defense exercise in Jammu and Kashmir, has been rescheduled for Saturday, May 31. The original plan was for the mock drill to take place on Thursday, May 29.
On Saturday, the "Operation Shield" operational readiness practice will be held in Jammu and Kashmir. In light of the existing tension with Pakistan, the simulated drill was initially scheduled to take place in many regions of Punjab, Haryana, and Jammu and Kashmir. At 5 p.m., the drill was supposed to start. The decision to postpone the practice was made for "administrative reasons," according to media sources, but no other information was immediately given.
Late on Wednesday, Haryana made the postponement official. IAS Sumita Misra and the Home Secretary for Haryana made the announcement on social media site X.
"Operation Shield," a thorough civil defense exercise that was supposed to take place on Thursday, has been postponed. "The same (sic) has been communicated to all Deputy Commissioners and other interested parties," Misra tweeted on Wednesday.
Operation Shield was initially scheduled to take place between 5 and 9 p.m. in each of Haryana's 22 districts. A similar postponement order was issued by Rajasthan, which had also scheduled a mock drill for the same civil defense exercise in each of its 41 districts.
Similarly, Chandigarh announced that there would be "no blackout or mock exercise" on Thursday, delaying the mock drill.
