Indian Yoga association organized a seminar cum lecture on Geriatrics today at auditorium of Bhrat Scouts and Guides Jammu.

Dr. Bharat Bhushan MD, Fellow WHO —Ageing Medical Superintendent ESIC MODEL Hospital Jammu was the first key speaker on this lesser aware subject of geriatrics in India said "In India the ever-growing elderly population poses social and financial challenges and is putting immense strain on health care delivery system., even as specialized medical services for them are scarce, it is estimated that 8-10 percent of India's population is above 60 yrs. of age this figure will reach 20 percent in the years to come. Growing old is a progressive process associated with decline in functioning, growing imbalance between repair and normal growth in the body. Elderly group become more prone to diseases like Heart diseases, respiratory ailments, infections, falls, Tuberculosis, tumors ,accidents, poisoning , violence victim ,dementia and confusion.
