Fire occurrences detailed across the express this year have made an expected loss of Rs 1.5 crore woodland properties. The Timberland Division uncovered that a sum of 162 fire occurrences were accounted for in various pieces of the express this year, influencing around 1,710.97 hectares of backwoods region in Himachal.

The Chamba timberland circle saw upwards of 31 fire occurrences, and the Dharamsala and Nahan circles saw 21 episodes each. In the Bilaspur circle, just two cases were accounted for this year, the most minimal in the state.

According to the information, around 740.5 hectares of timberland region were impacted in the Chamba circle this year due to fire episodes, 172.1 hectares in Rampur circle, 164.15 hectares of backwoods land in Kullu circle and 120.82 hectares in Dharamsala. Further, 133.1 hectares of the forest in Shimla and 106.8 hectares in the Mandi circle were impacted in such occurrences.

This is a plunge from the 843 fire occurrences enrolled in the state last year that had brought about a deficiency of Rs 1.37 crore to woods properties.

The timberland experts in the state find it hard to forestall fire episodes throughout the colder time of year season as scoundrels frequently set prairies burning, prompting harm to the close by woodland regions. The Main Conservator of the Woodland Division in Mandi, Ajit Thakur, advised The Tribune that to check backwoods fires, the division has been edifying occupants about the issue. Additionally, the division is likewise roping in mahila mandals and gram panchayats to monitor such wrongdoers.
