Credit extortion: ED connects Rs 193 crore Srinagar land

Land worth more than Rs 193 crore in Srinagar has been joined by the Implementation Directorate under the counter tax evasion regulation as a component of an examination concerning a credit misrepresentation including the Jammu and Kashmir State Helpful Bank (JKSCB).

A temporary request has been given under the Counteraction of Tax evasion Act (PMLA) to freeze the resource, which measures 257.19 kanal and is situated in Shivpora area of Srinagar, the government organization said in an explanation. The worth of the property is Rs 193.46 crore.

Recently, the organization had captured previous JKSCB executive Mohammad Shafi Dar and Mohammad Hilal A Mir, director of the Waterway Jhelum Helpful House Building Society, said to be an imaginary firm, as a feature of the examination. They are in legal care till December 20.

The PMLA case relates to a supposed extortion in endorsing of a credit to the tune of Rs 250 crore (payment sum Rs 223 crore) in 2019 to the Waterway Jehlum Co-usable House Building Society by Dar. The Requirement Directorate (ED) took cognisance of an August 2020 chargesheet recorded by the Jammu and Kashmir Hostile to Debasement Department (ACB) against Dar, Mir and others for offenses under the Indian Corrective Code and the Counteraction of Defilement Act.

The other blamed incorporate Abdul Hamid Hajam, secretary of the Waterway Jehlum Co-employable House Building Society, Mohammad Mujeeb Ur Rehman Ghassi, previous recorder of the Helpful Social orders, J&K, and Syed Ashiq Hussain, a previous representative enlistment center of the Helpful Social orders, J&K.

"Cash inferred out of the said (advance) misrepresentation was used for gaining the steadfast property that has been appended," the ED said.
