Israeli powers raged southern Gaza's second biggest city on Tuesday in what they called the most extraordinary day of battle in five weeks of ground activities against Hamas aggressors, and clinics battled to adapt to scores of Palestinian dead and injured.

"We are in the most extraordinary day starting from the start of the ground activity," the leader of the Israeli military's Southern Order, General Yaron Finkelman, said in Jerusalem.
