David Warner's Travis Head hundred of 50 helped Australia overcome a middle-order collapse to post a massive 388 against New Zealand in the World Cup on Saturday. Head (109 from 67 balls), Warner (81 from 65 balls) were gigantic and the Australians found a late order some momentum as the Kiwis now have to compete in the top chase of the ODI World Cup. It is currently for Pakistan, who posted 345 against Sri Lanka in Hyderabad on October 10. Head, who replaced Cameron Green in the 11th over, and Warner put on 175 runs in just 19.1 overs during a thunderous opening partnership. Head was too aggressive in his partnership with Warner and treated the New Zealand bowlers with contempt and it was hard to imagine that this was actually his first match of the tournament. The left-hander replaced Mitchell Marsh at No.3 in the wicket and never made Australia feel that the big-hitting 'Bison' had missed out. Fortune also favored Head traveling to his fourth ODI
a hundred Mitchell Santner dropped him off his bowling when the batting was on 70. The Australians were 143 for no loss. Five runs later, Glenn Phillips, standing behind cover, let the ball whistle through his hands as Head tried to hit spinner Rachin Ravindra. But those slips apart, Head and Warner were very smooth at the crease, pulling, cutting and driving around the field at will.
It must also be said that the Kiwis bowlers, usually a thrifty unit under Trent Boult, did not hit the right lines today and their fielders were also on the ropes, dropping as many as five catches.

New Zealand were also not helped by the absence of paceman Lockie Ferguson, who conceded 38 runs in three overs when he left the field with right Achilles pain.
The two left-handed batsmen used those failures and fortunes to their advantage. In fact, Warner scored 28 off his 50 balls and Head scored his half-century off 25 balls. It was also the second time in an ODI that both openers recorded 50 seconds within 30 balls.
The Australian pair of Head and Marsh did it against India earlier in the second ODI in Visakhapatnam in March.
118 runs on the Overdrive platform in the first Power Play of the series, which had a total of 10 sixes - six from Warner and four from Head.
But the breaks came after Warner was dismissed when spinner Phillips was caught off his own bowling.
The spin trio of Phillips, Santner and Ravindra stifled Australia's middle order as the pitch also seemed to settle down a bit at this stage. Phillips cleared Head with the faster, while Marsh, Steve Smith and Marnus Labuschagne also fell under the band of slow men as the Australians lost four places for 74 runs in that period.
The five-time champions needed momentum of 274 for five, with Glenn Maxwell (41 from 24 balls), Josh Inglis (38 from 28 balls) and captain Pat Cummins (14 from 37 balls) all out.
Maxwell and Inglis milked 62 runs between 44.4 and 47 overs.
