Japan again delayed the moon landing and X-ray mission due to strong winds.
The SLIM (Smart Lander for Investigating Moon) and X-Ray Imaging and Spectroscopy Mission (XRISM) of the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) was originally scheduled to launch on August 26 on an H2-A rocket.
The H2-A is Japan's flagship space launch vehicle jointly developed by JAXA and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI).
But the start was later postponed to Monday due to bad weather.

“High winds hit our start-ups… which was designed to ensure that falling debris does not affect areas outside the pre-warning areas," Tatsuru Tokunaga, head of MHI's launch unit, told media.
Although the new launch date is not yet final, JAXA stated that the launch could happen as early as September 15.
JAXA SLIM aims to achieve a small-scale, lightweight probe and use the precision landing technology needed for future probes, while XRISM will help scientists observe plasma in stars and galaxies.

If successful, Japan will become only the fifth country after Russia, the United States, China, and India to land on the moon.
SLIM, also known as "Lunar Sniper" in Japanese, is expected to reach lunar orbit 3-4 months after launch.
