Kullu and Manali were cut off from the rest of the state on Saturday after the Chandigarh-Manali highway and other alternate routes from Mandi to Kullu were closed due to landslides at various places.
The Chandigarh-Manali highway has been blocked between miles 6 and 9 between Mandi and Pandoh due to major landslides since Friday evening. As a result, traffic on the highway between Mandi and Kullu came to a standstill.
An alternate route between Mandi and Kullu via Kataula was also blocked at two places due to landslides.
Another alternate route between Mandi and Kullu via Chailchowk-Pandoh road is also blocked due to a landslide. Since Friday evening, Mandi district has received continuous rain, which has caused landslides and blocked roads at various places.
According to regional authorities, the goal is to restore traffic on these roads.
