Slight dip from Monday's peak as India reports 40,715 new COVID-19 cases, 199 deaths in 24 hours

India, on Tuesday, reported 40,715 new COVID-19 cases, 29,785 recoveries, and 199 deaths in the last 24 hours, the Union Health Ministry said. With this, the total number of cases in the country has risen to 1,16,86,796. 1,11,81,253 people have recovered so far. While the number of active cases in the country stands at 3,45,377, the death toll has now touched 1,60,166. The number of new cases, however, witnessed a dip from Monday's tally, which touched 46,951 - the highest daily spike since November 7. As per reports, India is once again the third worst-affected country in the world after the US and Brazil.
